Here are
reproduction 8-track tape cartridges for vintage arcade games. These
tapes were used for sound effects and background music for gun games,
driving games, and others back in the late 1960's and early 1970's.
If you own one of these games and your tape cartridge is missing or it's
not what it's used to be, we may have what you're looking for.

These tapes are
recorded onto premium NOS (new old stock) blanks with digitally re-mastered audio taken
directly from the best examples of original cartridges that we have
found. This is an ongoing project, so we will continuously add
new titles and new capabilities.
The fee that
we charge for these tapes is for the blank tape media and the
recording service, not for the audio content itself. The
audio for all of these tapes (as well as many others) is available
at our companion web site: http://arcadearchive.org/em/sound/.

Williams Bonanza
Substitute 8-track tape for
Williams' Bonanza gun game. Note that this game originally came
with a Muntz 4-track player, not an 8-track player. It is not
possible to make new Muntz tapes, and in many cases the original tape
player is missing or inoperable. If you install a conventional
8-track player in the game as a substitute, this tape will restore the
original factory tape sounds.

Replacement Belts for Arcade
Game Tape Players
Below
you will find a selection of replacement rubber drive belts for some
tape players used in arcade games. As we identify other tape
players and obtain suitable replacement belts, we will list them
here. Age, wear and ozone all work to destroy the drive belt,
which connects the drive motor to the capstan which in turn moves
the tape across the playback heads. Any slipping or binding
and the audio will be distorted, and of course if the belt is
missing or broken, you're dead in the water until it's
replaced.. Installing a new belt just takes a few minutes once
the tape player has been removed from the game.

Drive Belt for
Mayfair 8-Track Player
Used on
games such as Midway's Wild Kingdom
|
Drive Belt for Midway Proprietary 8-Track Tape Player
Used on
games such as Midway's Haunted House, Gangbusters, Dune Buggy, Sea Rescue
and others. While there are many variations of this tape player
which accommodate playback of one to four simultaneous audio channels, as
far as we have observed, the capstan drive mechanism is the same, and the
replacement belt should fit them all.

Drive Belt for PlayTape Model 1604 Tape Player
Used on
Chicago Coin's DriveMaster and possibly others. PlayTape is an
obsolete tape format that preceded the 8-track format. About half
the size of an 8-track cartridge, the tape is half the width of that used
in 8-tracks (1/8 inch vs. 1/4 inch), making the tapes even more
fragile. We don't currently have the ability to reproduce new
PlayTapes, so for now these drive belts are the only help we can offer for
these tape systems.
